Which Aadhaar and PAN linkings do you need? A personal checklist
Almost everyone in India needs: PAN linked with Aadhaar (if you have a PAN), an Aadhaar-seeded bank account for DBT, and an active mobile number in Aadhaar. Salaried people also need UAN linked with Aadhaar; farmers need PM-Kisan e-KYC and Farmer ID; LPG users need biometric Aadhaar authentication; ration card members need ration e-KYC. Checklist for private-sector employees
- Aadhaar has your current mobile number — needed for every OTP. How to update

Checklist for students
- Child biometric update done at 5 and 15 years (free at 5–7 and 15–17; ₹125 at 7–15). Child update

Frequently asked questions
Which linkings are mandatory in India in 2026?
For most people: PAN with Aadhaar (if you hold a PAN and are not exempt), an Aadhaar-seeded bank account to receive DBT, UAN with Aadhaar for EPF members, ration card e-KYC for ration card holders, and biometric Aadhaar authentication for subsidised LPG from 1 October 2026.
Is linking Aadhaar with voter ID compulsory?
No. It is voluntary through Form 6B.
Does linking cost money?
Most linking is free. The main exception is the ₹1,000 late fee for PAN–Aadhaar linking, paid only on the income tax portal.
