About this section
From 1 April 2026, India’s income tax is governed by the Income-tax Act, 2025, which replaced the 1961 Act. The tax rates for individuals did not change in Budget 2026, but many terms and section numbers did — “Tax Year” replaces “financial year” and “assessment year”.
Our calculators handle resident individuals with salary, pension and ordinary income. For business income, capital gains or complex cases, use the official tools on incometax.gov.in or consult a tax professional.
Your PAN must be operative (linked with Aadhaar) to get refunds and avoid higher TDS. See PAN inoperative.
