UAN activation and Aadhaar linking with face authentication (UMANG): step by step and common fixes
EPFO now requires Aadhaar Face Authentication (FAT) in the UMANG app for new UAN generation and activation. Install UMANG and AadhaarFaceRD, choose EPFO → UAN Allotment & Activation, enter your Aadhaar and mobile, and scan your face. Activate UAN with face authentication
- Install UMANG and AadhaarFaceRD on an Android phone.
- In UMANG, open EPFO → UAN Allotment and Activation (or “Activate UAN”).
- Enter your Aadhaar number and mobile number, give consent, and verify with OTP.
- Tap face authentication and scan your face in good light.
- On success, your UAN is activated and details are fetched from Aadhaar. You receive the UAN and a password by SMS. Log in to the member portal and change the password.
