LPG biometric Aadhaar authentication from 1 October 2026: how to do it, and fixing a missing subsidy
From 1 October 2026, domestic LPG consumers must complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (BAA) to book refills at the subsidised price. It is free and can be done at cylinder delivery, at your distributor’s office, or in your oil company’s app using Aadhaar face authentication. About 90% of consumers had done it by 19 September 2026. If you don’t, you can still buy LPG, but at the market price without subsidy.

Who needs to do this?
Every domestic LPG connection holder who wants the subsidised price — including PM Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries — and who has not already completed biometric Aadhaar authentication for their connection. If you already did it (many people did it at delivery during 2025–26), you do not need to repeat it.
How to check: open your gas company’s app (IndianOil One / Indane, HP Pay / HP Gas, Hello BPCL / Bharat Gas) or mylpg.in and look at your consumer profile / KYC status, or ask your delivery person or distributor.
Three ways to complete it (all free)
- In the app (from home): install your oil company’s app and AadhaarFaceRD (UIDAI). Log in with your registered mobile number, open e-KYC / Aadhaar authentication, and scan the connection holder’s face.
- At delivery: the delivery person carries a device. The connection holder gives a fingerprint or face scan when the cylinder is delivered.
- At the distributor’s office: visit with your LPG consumer number (17-digit LPG ID) and do fingerprint/iris authentication at the counter.
Nobody can charge you for LPG e-KYC. Do not share OTPs with callers who say your “gas connection will be cut”. Authentication happens only through your distributor, the delivery person’s device or the official app.
